On the heels of great success in 2012, the Women’s Business Alliance of Houma is proud to announce the second annual Day of Giving on June 28, 2013 from 7:00am to 5:00pm. The Day of Giving, which will take place at the Quality Hotel of Houma, is a celebration to honor the work, love and contribution nonprofit organizations give to the community on a daily basis.
Last year, participating nonprofits received a great outpouring of support from the community, with organizations reporting significant increases in the number of contributions and the amounts of money received during the event.
To officially start the second annual event, a brief opening ceremony will be held at 9:00am in front of the Quality Hotel by the hotel’s flagpole. The day will consist of a “drop off” for citizens to bring items that are truly needed by our local volunteer organizations to continue their services. The honorary organizations will be positioned under tents in front of the Quality Hotel with volunteers to accept donations from local community members and to offer more information about their charity.
This year’s honorary organizations include Hope Extreme, The Haven, MacDonell Children’s Services, Bayou-Area Habitat for Humanity, TGMC/Blood Bank, Blue Star Moms, Head Start Program, Start Corps and the Houma Food Bank.
This event is a great opportunity to educate local community members about the importance of giving back and continuing to make a difference in Terrebonne Parish. Do your part by choosing a charity and collecting items today!
